Charlie and I got stuff over the weekend to make martinis: four glasses from Target and a stainless steel shaker. More specifically, we got stuff to make cosmpolitan martinis. I've been sipping on frilly pink drinks in big glasses all weekend.
Well, okay. Not all weekend. But I had two this evening and one last night.
Well, okay. More like yesterday afternoon as soon as I got the booze.

Cosmos are really quite simple to make. I had to alter the recipe a bit because I got a little sauced before we even had dinner yesterday. I made my second drink with twice as much cranberry juice as the recipe called for and a bit less vodka. I suggest two ounces of cranberry, and an ounce or 1/2 ounce each of vodka and triple sec to start out with, then add a dash of lime juice.
My poison for a few years at the AlleyCat was vodka and cranberry; this is just with a little more fruit flavor.
I don't yet know how to make any other drinks, nor do I have the money to go out and start stocking my bar. Of course, soon I'd like to get chocolate, lemon, and apple-flavored liquers (or liquors) to make other fru-fru drinky-poos. Any sort of martini other than a dry or sweet just seems to be vodka, alcohol of choice that tastes like fruit/flavor of choice, piece of fruit or chocolate shavings or whatever. This may be information the general public has, but it's all new to me.

The best part was, as I was mixing my lower-alcohol cosmo this evening I asked, on a whim, if Charlie and Cavan wanted one. Because it's a pink drink in a big martini glass I thought they would say no. To my surprise, the Irish gentlemen, in unison, said “Yeah, I'll try one.” They, however, didn't quite sip their drinks. They just sort of downed them and said, “That was good.”

Also, on an unrelated note: I'm sad that Ashy Larry and Charlie Murphy are introducing the “lost” Dave Chappelle skits. I don't quite know how I feel about Comedy Central airing them. I know he didn't want them to go on TV.
